Questions about Gebirgsjäger

Hi guys!
I am writing to you from Kiev, Ukraine.

I and my friends play to military game - airsoft. We simulate Gebirgsjaegerbataillon 232 and we try to be like them. We have a few questions related to the proper clothing and equipment. We need accurate information and we hope for your help or advise, where I can ask about it! Official site of the Bundeswehr does not give such information.

As we learned , in the period 2003-2006, the Gebirgsjäger soldiers used the following clothing and equipment:

Bergmütze / Mützen flecktarn
Feldbluse flecktarn / Parka flecktarn
Feldhose flecktarn
Kampfstiefel 2000 or Bergstiefel ?
Handschuhe / Kampfhandschuhe (Nomex?)

Helmet: Schutzhelme M826
Body armor: Mehler ST
Used weapons: P8, G36А1, G36А2, G3А3ZF, G22/24/25, AG36, MG3, MG36

Kampfrucksack / Jägerrucksack

Maybe something from this list is wrong or needs modifications, help us please:?
We need to know when the Gebirgsjäger soldiers go to the mountains, how they dressed?

I have more questions, but for now, I want to get answers to the questions above

I have to admit, that's a rather uncommom subject. But it's nice to hear that German mountain troops are that popular.

Kampfstiefel 2000 or Bergstiefel ?

Handschuhe / Kampfhandschuhe (Nomex?)

Helmet: Schutzhelme M826

Correct, but ensure to have the correct helmet cover. The helmet covers in this timespan were Flecktarn / Schneetarn (snow camo), the new issued ones have Flecktarn / Wüstentarn (desert camo) on the two sides.

Body armor: Mehler ST

Correct. The german army also used the "Koppeltragesatz" (Load Bearing Equipment) in this era: http://www.raeer.com/shopexd.asp?id=17211?var=00000

Used weapons: P8, G36А1, G36А2, G3А3ZF, G22/24/25, AG36, MG3, MG36

I think the G36A2 was issued later than 2006. Also, the MG36 never made it in the German Army, although bipods and drum magazines were purchased for the existing G36.

German mountain troops are also equipped with the Panzerfaust 3 and the MP2 (aka "Uzi")

Kampfrucksack / Jägerrucksack

In the mentioned era, the Gebirgsjäger were already issued with the Kampfrucksack and did not use the Jägerrucksack any longer.

That is possibly not all stuff used in the Gebirgstruppe, but it is a big batch of it. Do you have any pictures of your team for comments?

Noone in the German Armed Forces should be equiped with an "UZI" any more! These usage of these type of weapon already expired and the firearms will not be replaced when out of order! The recent Machine Pistol for German Armed Forces is the Heckler & Koch MP7: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/HK_MP7

To our knowledge, "Koppeltragesatz" uses only in the campaigns and training activities (ausbildung), in other cases, soldiers dressed in the Mehler ST, is this true?

- the Soldier on the right (with the red cross) - what the hell do the trinking-bottle out of the Kampfrucksack?
- soldiers of the GebJgBtl. 232 don´t wear the Brigadeedelweißabzeichen on the Kampfanzug
- the Sani-Soldier disorderd his OG-Dienstgradabzeichen
- Sprechhaube i.V.m. Bergmütze ?? ?? ??


to the third picture:
- if you wear the holy Bergmütze - keep your ears free. If it´s to cold, use the Wintermütze, called "Bärenfotze".

Atrus, the Edelweiss-Patch is actually not worn on the battle dress. As a compromis, you could use the patch of the Gebirgsjägerbataillon 232 on the right upper arm, this is a common carrying method for the bataillon isignia.

1. The Bergmütze is part of the Army Service Uniform. It is also used in combination with the battle dress for duty in the barracks. When going in the field, the soldiers normally wear the Feldmütze (or from time to time the Bergmütze, but not very often, it's more a pride-thing then):

The second one you mentioned (the "Gebirgsjäger Feldmütze") was not issued to the troops.


2. The Koppeltragesatz is also used

3. The Fäustling was used in winter during the mentioned period. The other two gloves were issued later, first the olive one, then followed by the Flecktarn one.


4. Military superiors can change the dresscode mentioned in the Field Manual 37/10 ("Zentrale Dienstvorschrift") to maintain health and the operational capability of the soldiers. It was applied in these situations. The name for it is "Anzugerleichterung" (dress code relief). A little example for it would be rolling up the sleeves in summer (but not in the field).


- There is something wrong with the backpacks, normally they are not hanging this slant. They should hang parallel to your backs. You have to put the "Isomatte" (http://www.asmc.de/de/Camping/Schlafen/Matten/Isomatten/BW-Isomatte-faltbar-gebraucht-p.html) into the small compartment of the main pocket, it will give the backpack more stability and a little bit of a backpadding.

doch - der Hinweis daß Gebirgsjäger an der Bergmütze zu erkennen sind finde ich äußerst bedenklich.

Lässt das doch Rückschlüsse auf die Truppenteile im Auslandseinsatz zu.

Ach fängt militärische Sicherheit erst bei geheim an?
Mir geht es eher darum das hier irgendwelche ukrainer ein paar Fragen stellen und die hier sofort unreflextiert beantwortet werden...
Ihr solltet euch mal mit dem MAD unterhalten wie Aufklärung heutzutage im Zeitalter der IT abläuft.
Erst geht es nur um Handschuhe und dann kommt "wieviele Magaziene hat denn der Soldat am man?" oder "welche Funkgeräte verwenden die Gebirgsjäger?"
Es mag vieleicht für euch Reservisten egal sein, aber ich als aktiver Soldat mag es ned wenn "die Andere Seite" genau weiß welche Ausrüstung, Waffen und Geräte ich im Einstz verwende...
